    Exams for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek Language

    It is our mission to see all of our students set high goals and be successful
    from the lower to the higher levels.

  • Application - October 2020 

    The Hellenic Education Center, has a long and succesful tradition in the Ellinomatheia Exams.
    By succesfully passing the Exams, the student receives a certificate that proves the level of proficiency in the Greek language. This process of taking an Ellinomatheia Exam not only helps the students build good test taking skills in a different language, but also gives them the motivation to study the language in depth and follow a rigorous academic program.

    **Virginia, Maryland and 9 more States recognize the Level B1 and all higher levels of Ellinomatheia Certificates as proof of language proficiency in Modern GreekAs a result, our students can submit the B1 Certificate (translated) to their high school to be awarded the Seal of Biliteracy at graduation.

Ellinomatheia 2019 Dates and Information

  • The Ellinomatheia Exams:

    The Exams will take place in October 2020. replacing the May 2020 Exams, which were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The exams are open to everyone and will take place at HEC facilities as follows:

    A1 (elementary knowledge for children, ages 8-12)
    Tuesday, October 13, 2020 (Morning)
    A1 (elementary knowledge for teenagers and adults)
    Tuesday, October 13,2020 (Morning)
    A2 (basic knowledge)
    Wednesday, October 14, 2020 (Morning)
    B1 (average knowledge)
    Thursday, October 15, 2020 (Morning)
    B2 (good knowledge)
    Friday, October 16, 2020 (Morning)
    C1 (very good knowledge)
    Wednesday, October 14, 2020 (Noon)
    C2 (excellent knowledge)
    Tuesday, October 13, 2020 (Noon)

    Please Note:

    There is a difference in the duration of the exam period, which will take place over a four day period, instead of the usual three days. This is so that we can observe safe social distancing practices, for the safety of all participants.
    You will need to bring a copy of the applicant’s passport.
    An oral examination will follow the written exam.
